THIS TOO SHALL PASS…
“If it is to be it is up to me…” Those words echoed in my head as I started my recovery from the terrible explosion that changed my life so drastically. I was in a wheelchair, my wife had left me and I was broke. Things were looking pretty dark but with the help of good friends and God’s grace I started to rebuild my life. I started working out with my Rugby buddies. They had me lifting weights and throwing a medicine ball around. At first I wasn’t sure it was something I wanted to do but before long it was something I needed. I learned to love the gym all over again. I learned to love life again.
We all face hard times. We all at some point face turning points. We can choose to fall into despair or learn to never give up and climb inch by inch into the light. Life is going to throw some things at you, that’s for sure. What’s important is that we are able to take the shots life throws and keep getting up moving toward the good times that come from working hard and smart toward our goals. It’s perseverance that makes us successful. It’s our ability to persevere over life’s adversities that will see us through until the sun shines again. We have power over our own happiness. Believe it, make it happen, choose to be optimistic and you will overcome any obstacle.
Right now people are losing jobs, gas is getting more expensive and the media is full of doom and gloom. Well, this too shall pass. Things will get better. The trick is to keep your chin up and do what you must to keep your head above water and keep moving forward. A good work-out never hurts and it doesn’t even have to cost anything! Take a brisk walk or run. Do some push-ups. Play ball with your kids. Just try to take advantage of any good times you can and make an effort to create more good times. Put your brain to work and innovate. If what you’ve been doing hasn’t been working then change! If you feel down, well that’s ok – we’ve all been there, but don’t stay down. Nobody ever won a fight by staying down when they could get up. You CAN get up. Whatever problem you face you can overcome it. I believe in you, all that’s needed is for YOU to believe in you. So look around, dust yourself off and realize there’s always a way. Look in the mirror and say “There is Always a Way” and to “Never, Never Give Up” Soon you’ll find there’s no challenge you can’t face and you’ll be happier and healthier. That’s all for now, go get some exercise!
KEVIN’S PERSONAL JOURNAL
10:00 a.m. CST – This morning I was presented a Proclamation from Mayor Peterson. As a way to thank the mayor’s office for their support and commitment to the Kevin Saunders’ Health and Fitness Tour of America, I presented Mayor Peterson with a plaque. I gave an impromptu motivational presentation to let everyone know the purpose for this tour and that I would continue spreading my message of motivation and inspiration during my journey. I am here to educate, motivate, and inspire people about participating in regular fitness activities along with proper healthy nutrition, one community at a time. I challenged the city to get in shape before I returned. I offered to provide tools and resources to help with the efforts that are currently ongoing in the Indianapolis area to make everyone healthier. My new book, “Revolutions”, which I am currently working on, is intended to be a great motivational tool full of tips and information about the tour. My other books, “Blueprint for Success” and “There’s Always a Way” are available as well at www.kevinsaunders.com.

Indianapolis Proclamation
It meant a lot to me that so many individuals showed up to show their support for the Tour. Among attendants was Robbie Barkley, Vice President of Advocacy for the American Heart Association. I am proud to be working with an organization like the AHA. It is exciting for me that even the local affiliates support me 100%. The media was also present. Many of the news stations showed their support by showing coverage of the Tour on both the 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. news spots. If we could keep the media attention on America’s fitness challenges perhaps we could motivate more people to get healthy and fit. I find that with a little inspiration, education, motivation, and perspiration great things get done.
After the presentation from the mayor’s office, two officers escorted me though the city. At the end of the city limits, I back tracked approximately 60 miles into Hagerstown and pushed back towards Indianapolis in two three-hour sessions with a one-hour break between each session. We arrived at the Baymont Inn in Indianapolis after 8:00 p.m.
8:30 p.m. CST – I called in for a radio interview with Steve Simpson from WIBC AM in Fort Wayne, IN. The interview was extremely enjoyable. Steve was very interested in and supportive of the Tour. I again encouraged the surrounding communities to become healthier by building lasting health and fitness community initiatives so that continue to help people of all ages can stay educated and continue learning new and different healthy activities and nutritious food or snacks to eat.
