Race with the Spartans!

Pushing Through

You can win a free entry to any US Spartan Race! Read on…

This week I have a Challenge for YOU!

As you know, I am a huge believer in the power of being active and participating in sports and athletics. But it’s not just for the thrill of competition. Since my youth, I’ve always believed that challenging your body through sports is an effective way to break through personal barriers and develop a winning attitude in every area of life.
I grew up involved in just about any sport I could get into, and even continued playing sports during college and after in club sports, like rugby and more after graduating from college.

The explosion that left me paralyzed from the chest down was bad enough to make me forget it briefly, but even that couldn’t keep me from getting back into action (with a little help from my best friends). The truth is that most of my life has been spent setting athletic goals for myself and working non-stop to achieve them, and that has made my life richer in every way.

I had to come back from being caught in one of the worst explosions of its kind in US and Texas history. An explosion that propelled me 300 ft, over a 2 story building, and onto a concrete parking lot where my back was broken on impact. During my journey to becoming the World’s Greatest Wheelchair Athlete, I learned that…

“PAIN builds Courage and you can’t be a strong, brave, a champion or winner in life unless you’re willing to go through the tough times and over the obstacles to find out what you’re really capable of.”

Are You Spartan Strong

Are You Spartan Strong?

ReeBok’s Spartan Race series gives every participant an opportunity to push past their previous limits and break new barriers to reach new levels of excellence achievement and possibility. When you sign up for this race, you choose the level you want to enter – one that challenges you and stretches you as a person and an athlete and bring out the courage within you to push you past your limitations to find your CHAMPION WITHIN!

While the nation continues to face an obesity challenge, one thing that I’m excited about is the fact that every year, more and more people are taking on fitness lifestyles and signing up for all kinds of race events, from cycling events to fun walks, races for the cure, marathons and triathlons. One type of race that’s grown immensely is obstacle races, with names such as Spartan Race, Muddy Buddy, and Tough Mudder, held all around the country.

These races offer participants a chance to get off the beaten path and challenge themselves by stepping way out of their comfort zone to conquer a race course filled with obstacles, hazards and mother nature’s elements. If you want to confront your perception of normal living, this is hard to beat!

The folks at Spartan Race have generously offered to donate a free race entry to one of my lucky readers. This race entry will be good for any US 2014 Spartan Race. Don’t be intimidated…they offer a variety of challenge levels so you can choose the level that’s right for you. Fair enough, right? Registering for the drawing is easy… You’ll automatically be entered for the drawing when you:

About the Spartan Race:
“The Spartan Race is on a mission to get you active, healthy, excited about change, and return to our ancient roots where running through woods, getting dirty, and facing adversity was part of everyday life. Our events are all about challenging today’s perception of normal and getting you out of your comfort zone!

At Spartan Race, we do this every day and it shapes everything we do. Having experienced many different racing events, we wanted to make adventure racing more accessible to everyone, but do not be fooled by the word ‘accessible’, as our events have a challenge for everyone’s needs.

Spartan Race now introduces a level for everyone beginning with the entry level Spartan Sprint, intermediate level Super Spartan, the advanced Spartan Beast, and the ‘99.9% need not apply’ extreme level Death Race. Whatever your level, Spartan Race will test your strength, stamina, and sense of humor.

Here is a link to a video and more information on the Spartan Race come and sign up and put your skills to the ultimate Spartan test, See http://spartanracemedia.com to find out more info about this fantastic event!
